It's 2 sided. Yes they get money to play a set of clubs, but get more when they win. Players pick a brand with which they think they can win which makes them more money which makes club makers give and want to give hem more etc.

They are not going to sign with Taylormade if they think they can win with Mizuno (see Koepka which to my knowledge still hasn't signed with a brand)

Koepka is getting paid to hit TM woods for sure, they pay woods only deals weekly, not that he needs the $ but he's getting paid to hit them.

Rory was an interesting case considering he chose TM while he was still getting paid by Nike. TM had to have covered what he lost by signing a new contract and then some. Which is odd because TM was up for sale at the time.

Paul Casey, Chappel, Vegas also playing Mizuno on their own. Seems like all Nike guys flocking to the Mizuno irons and TM M drivers.
