Most fantasy stories invent a method for time travel and Game of Thrones technically doesn't have that. So it is sort of breaking its own rules - which is a big no no to try and maintain a semblance of reality within a given fantasy world.
For example, if the lord of light suddenly made an appearance within the world in the second to last episode and beat the white walkers - people would call bullshite because even though we have magic and some follow him, there is no device that should allow that to happen and it would seem like lazy / bullshite writing - whereas if Bran found some Greenseer trick and did something very similar it comes off a whole lot better.
That is certainly an extreme example, but just because its fantasy and technically anything is possible doesn't mean that a story / world shouldn't follow its own set of rules. Just my opinion of course.
