It's not water vapor. Those little dark things you put in the filter soak up a lot of water. The more coffee grinds go in, the less coffee water comes out.

Some evaporates but not that much the rest is split most trapped in the grains notice how much heavier they were than before?? Das da water. also a small amount runns back down into the reservoir where ya can hear it gargle and hiss away. half a cup sounds about right to me. No worries.
