new Orleans should have gone full throttle on allowing STRs (for the next 3-5 years), which would have driven up the property values, and coincidentally lead to forcing out the "trash" who could no longer afford to live there

i think this is what they call 3d chess

I have no idea why we think we are SF or NYC (places with actual industry/jobs)

we are a tourist/boutique city and should accommodate that as much as possible

cutting off a huge source of the local economy is truly a terrible idea, especially under the guise of preserving "neighborhood character" - (wtf does even mean?)

i do think that the STRs could have been a catalyst to change the identity (ie remove the underclass) of the city but that ship has sailed.

Ask every single taxpayer in the nation if they'd rather their neighboring home be a short term rental or a Section 8 home. Guess which Carbonnet is choosing?

This is one of the best examples of why I'll NEVER buy in NOLA. The government (and the citizens) are incompetent and corrupt to the core.

Seriously, I'm not a super smart or gifted fella, but give me complete control of the city, and I could make it one of the best places in the nation to live within a decade.
