Byrd renounced the klan and when he served he voted to reauthorize the voting rights act, supported legislation for Hate Crimes Prevention.
David Duke still supports the klan and it's viewpoint.

I saw a clip of Byrd in an interview saying some pretty racist shite.
In 2001.
I guess he reformed his violence towards blacks, but maybe not so much his thoughts.
