Why am I uneasy about the statue removal?

I'm a Southerner, but I am not enameled with the old South. I have never owned anything with the confederate flag on it. But I find myself uneasy about the removal of statues of confederates.
Historical figures are tricky. Even scholars can't be certain of everything that makes up their life. You certainly cannot hold them to the light of 2017. And why are Grant and Sherman exempt from the outrage?
Grant was a big slaveholder and Sherman committed horrible and unnecessary atrocities.

If you were enameled you would look more like a statue yourself.

It's been discussed today at length, but my issue is not with the removal of any statue (even the founders, in theory).
It's with a) giving in to those who see to destroy American institutions and b) when the statute and icon removal begins to result in questioning the underpinnings of the country in a more substantive way ("If we don't want Madison's statue because he sucked, why is the Bill of Rights held in such high regard").

Probably because you know it isn't about statues. It's about whatever progressives latch onto as the "white privilege" symbol du jour. Next, it'll be the removal of depictions/statues/icons of slave-holding presidents, then unfavorable representations in literature, then old television shows, etc.

It is about trying to discredit former cultural historical figures. The domino effect is to eventually discredit our Founding Fathers breaking our country's back and dissolving America into nothing.
The only way this country dissolves is from within. It's been underway for a while now.

Now that the ho moz..lefties..useful idiots, et al, are "out of the closet" the natural hate comes forth and demands everyone who doesn't follow the liberal left illness be forced into the "closet"...I.E.."We know you conservatives exist...but you better now show yourselves". ...you know....fascists.

It's just another wedge issue Democrats are trying to use as a means to raise funding and support for mid terms without actually having a real platform.
Gay marriage is already legal.
The woman thing didn't work.
The trans thing didn't work.
The Russians thing is transparently bullshite.
Now they are back to race.
They target confederate statues because they know if 1,000 people show up to protest their removal, at least 5 will be skin head racists. They can use pictures of that to paint everyone that disagrees with them as racists through their coastal progressive media. From there they try to use scary terms like "Alt Right" to create a sense of urgency among potential donors to progressive candidates.
They have to defend a lot of seats in 2020. They are desperate to be relevant after stomping out populism.

Something truly lost in all of this. The one thing that brings this supreme credibility was the loss of life of a young woman because of a hateful POS based on what we know now.
However, if you leave that out and think only of the statues, this is nothing more than a continuation of the alt left/socialist/communist/immoral direction our country has been heading. Due to liberal leftist and gutless conservative, albeit, cowards. It's led us to a failed education system and a useful fool society.
Look at the long list leading up to the statues and this is not all inclusive.
*Great Society
*Section 8 housing
*Food stamps
*Roe vs Wade
*Open borders
*BLM anti-cop
*Sanctuary Cities
*SCOTUS operating outside of constitutional law
*ANTIFA
*Abortions for jelly beans. Note tonight Oregon has now approved abortion at tax payer expense through 9th month of pregnancy.
So statues are just the start of an institutional attack on the symbols of our founders, Declaration of Independence and revision of our Constitution.

"Hamilton" star actually thinks President Trump could have a point -- but not in the way Trump thought -- because he thinks removing George Washington and Thomas Jefferson statues is worthy of discussion.
We got the actor -- who famously played Aaron Burr in the smash musical -- at LAX Wednesday and asked about Trump's argument that removing the statue of Robert E. Lee could open the door to 86'ing the famous presidents.
Washington and Jefferson owned slaves... so, he says fair question.

Grant and Sherman did not go to war against the United States of America. Andrew Jackson was a slave owner. He did not go to war against the United States of America. There is a pattern there.

I can't wait for the George Washington Carver Memorial

So we're moving the goal posts now?
Slavery no long qualifies for statue removal? Just "treasonous traitors" in your eyes?
I thought the statues were being taken down because they were racist slaveholders.

You should be.
What "symbol" is next. Who decides what symbol or ideology is acceptable or not?
"When they came for the statues, I didn't speak up because I wasn't a statue."

Al Sharpton wants to remove the Jefferson Memorial.
Christopher Columbus has been removed;
Woodrow Wilson?
Franklin Roosevelt?
