Cute Google. But the fact remains. They paid for the land and for what they did to the land. You don't pay your defeated enemies for destroying their land. If anything. They pay you. Spoils of war. Also, by making it a cemetery, they guaranteed that it would be kept up and everyone would know who's house it was, as well as its history.

If you don't respect your enemy, you level their homes. Spread the ashes. And leave nothing there that marks your enemy was there. You wipe their existence off the planet. They did the opposite.
