i agree. but i find your position weird. most who want the removal want so because they are "evil men", so you want to put them in a museum which will be for profit, so people will be making money off the statues instead of them being public property and viewable for free.

id also love for some clarification on where the line is to be drawn on statue removal. as ive already said, all great men in history are really, really, horrible men. Caesar? killed hundreds of thousands and enslaved just as many. alexander the great? same. the founders of damn near every country were horrible men who did horrible things to people. yet here we are, glorifying every single one of them. So, where does the line end? do we forgive julius caesar for his horrible transgressions against the gauls and other "barbarians"? Do we forgive Washington for his slaves?

There is no place for honoring confederate warriors in public places. Like it or not, they were fighting for turning apart the union and allowing people to be owned as property. That being said, these are works of art that should be preserved. A museum does not have to be set up for profit. It could be free entry. People can put on their hoods and waive the stars and bars and walk in and out at their leisure.

Apples. Oranges. I'm quite certain there are no people left around that are concerned about Julius Caesar's behavior. There are however black Americans who still have loved ones who in the not so distant past were considered property.

Again, with Washington, apples to oranges...he didn't exactly fight a war to preserve slavery. The Confederate soldiers participate in a war that have that has one of the primary causes. It's certainly turn misses his reputation but at that time, there was no war over slavery but rather a war for independence from Britain. At that time, even slavery was tolerated in England. It was a different time but it is good that pastry box note the fact that several of our previous presidents owned slaves.
