It very much is. A port injected gas engine runs extremely clean and isn't hard on oil at all. Use what meets the spec in the manual, change it when the light comes on, use an OEM filter, it'll last till the body rusts off around it. Anything else is over complicating it. The manual doesn't say to use synthetic oil because it isn't necessary.
With carbureted gas motors, direct injected motors, turbocharged motors, HPCR diesels, etc it is very important to be an oil change nazi and use the really expensive shite that the manual specifies. Otherwise, meh.
