Starved on fuel. Change fuel filter first. If that doesn't work then drain fuel tank and check from tank all the way to your injector body. You will have to purge all the air out of the fuel lines after

This.
Had a 88 suburban Detroit diesel that you couldn't start after it sat overnight. You would run the battery down winding on it. Eventually figured out the mechanical fuel pump on side of the block had a bad check valve and was allowing the fuel to drain/siphon back to the tank.
Keep a diesel with a good supply of fuel and they will run forever.
