gonna be damn sure that all the rat poison is where he can't get it from now on though

If you insist on going to poison route, I would suggest you get some of those black boxes that hold the poison but don't allow anything bigger a rat to get in.

My golden ate a square pack of it. I poured the peroxide down his throat. Stuck the bottle down his throat. He threw up real fast. Put him on vitamin k and he was fine. That is basically Coumadin for humans and causes internal bleeding. Like the previous poster said watch his urine and feces. Mine only went about 30 minutes before throwing it up so your likely absorbed some.

I'll try to avoid the dramatic details as much as possible but I don't even use rat poison. Last April my dad ended up passing away fairly suddenly and since I have moved into his house while I attempt to get all his stuff organized and cleaned out (he had a big house and an unimaginable amount of stuff that was very unorganized).

Anyways even after over a year there was one part of the house left that was not totally cleaned up yet and unbeknownst to me there was some D-con rat poison still in the Walmart bag or whatever he bought it in in a pile of stuff that I didn't know about

Where it was I'm still not sure how the dog even got to it but regardless I didn't have a clue it was there and that's how it all happened
