we don't owe money to china per say. we are their largest exporter. we paid/ continue to pay them for a lot of goods. they aquire a surplus of money through trading bc they export more goods than they import; they took the profit from trade deals and reninvested it into our Treasury department ( sort of like investing in the stock market) bc they believe in the future of our economy and a good US economy means more exports for China.

It basically how much stake their economy has within our own economy.

whos bright idea was it to borrow money from china in the first place?

Umm, a genius. As I said, our alliance with China has brought the closest thing to world peace that I think is feasible. Was it really better when we had nukes aimed at each other at all times as Chinese citizens were starving to death by the tens of millions? Now China is prosperous, can feed its citizens, and idolizes America. This is a bad thing? I have to conclude that you're incredibly ignorant or incredibly stupid.

And hell, if you want a specific name, I'm going to go with Richard Nixon, which I think his visit to China is a Top 5 act of any President ever.

A simple "I was wrong" will suffice.
