When you say grain merchandising are you talking about commodity sales?
I am thinking of making a career change and commodity sales is something of interest.
Is it something you can get into without an AG specific degree?

Buying farmer's product direct and trying to get better deals at different mills. Handle the logistics and everyone makes more money.
With rice anyway. Other option is dealing straight with the mill. But farmers lose bargaining power with local mills. I know some guys who buy from a few farmers and ship it to various ports on their own barges. Everyone is happier
I think that's what he's referring to.
