Nashville would not be flourishing as much if the crime were parallel with Memphis. Nashvillians better hope it stays low. Crime is a sure way to be an impediment of growth and economic development.

Our demographics lend themselves to lower crime rates.
Don't really see that changing.

Everyone from Tennessee appreciates the history that Memphis offers.
That being said, Memphis is by and large a crime ridden shite hole. Mississippi would be happy have the city added to their state while most Tennesseans outside of the Memphis metro would be happy to see it go to Mississippi.
Every major city within Tennessee is going through a major renaissance right now except for Memphis.
Nashville, Knoxville, Chattanooga, Murfreesboro, etc. are all booming and doing better than at any point in their history. Memphis continues to be stagnant and considered amongst the worst cities in the country.
