This whole diversity and inclusion thing is mind boggling in 2017. When a hiring manager has to pass on a young white male because they have too many of them something is way fricking wrong. Hire the best person that applies for the job and that's it.

If a young, white male is getting passed on, he ain't qualified.

I 100% agree in theory. The problem is how do you differentiate someone simply hiring the best candidate vs hiring a particular group? Meaning, if your company is all white men, it's hard to prove that it just happen to be that all of them were the best candidates. There's also the possibility that having too many people from one specific group can stifle creativity. If every employee has roughly the same experiences it potentially hinders you even if they were the best on paper. There's no perfect answer.
