I mean if you read the tea leaves it seems one angle that is getting focus from Mueller's team is the issue of obstruction, probably not that helpful(or wise) if Trump goes and finds a way to fire Mueller to hinder the investigation.

Unless I am reading article wrong, it says this started weeks ago. How is it just being made public that there is a grand jury?

Obstruction is a non starter. FBI investigations are specifically excluded as a "proceeding" under the obstruction statutes.
