Stephen Miller was, by far, the biggest arse in that press room today. And the man is totally ignorant. It amazes me that someone so ignorant could be in such an important position.
The New Colossus was written by Emma Lazarus in 1883 as part of a campaign to raise $$$ for the Statue of Liberty's pedestal. The last lines of that poem were added to the pedestal in 1903. Miller trying to somehow lessen the importance of those words by saying they were added much later is misleading.

No - Today, Miller was the adult in the room trying to communicate with a spoiled child.

This is true - but it was not the original purpose of the statue - and it carried no official policy status. It was a tug at the heartstrings for $$$. Makes sense that modern DEMs are so impressed with it.

hmmm - 2017-1903 = 114yrs. 114 yrs later = 'much later.' Makes sense to me. What is 'misleading' about that. What is definitely misleading is to confer some sort of policy obligation on them.
btw - how do you feel about adding "under God" to the pledge of allegiance? = and that was done by congress.
The words represent a warm sentiment. Find me a time in history where they were taken as official policy.

Being ignorant is one thing. Being ignorant and not realizing it is far worse. The man thinks he's a great journalist by acting like this...shame.
