I didn't say what he was doing was illegal. I said he was being a douchebag. And he was. Wanna ride your toy in the road? Fine. Don't be a giant douche lord and ride in the middle of the road. Hug the shoulder where your slow arse belongs.

The reason cyclists ride in the middle of the lane is to force the car to wait until there's room to pass. It's for their protection.
If they ride on the line and a car overtakes them while a car passes from the other direction the cyclist will get squeezed off the road.
Top lane the white vehicle must wait until it's safe to pass. Bottom lane they are simply squeezing the cyclist against the side of the road which is fricking dangerous:
Riding 2 or 3 abreast instead of a long line means the cyclists take up less room (vertically) on the road, allowing you to pass them quicker.
Down vote away.
