Proven head coaches to do what? Go 9-3 and play in the peach bowl?

Those would have been terribly uninspiring hires and would have been no better than keeping Miles. Once it was clear Jimbo wasn't coming, I was fine to give Orgeron a shot. I liked the way the team played under him.

Anyway, why don't we let the season play out before we crown or shite on Orgeron? If he sucks, he won't be around very long. My biggest fear with bringing in someone like Gundy or fedora was that they'd be given some leeway to have a few mediocre seasons, whereas Orgeron must win now. Three losses this year will be unacceptable. Hell, even two will be tough to stomach.

Did you think Nick Saban was an uninspiring hire?

Wasn't that your argument for why O is the savior? Going 9-3?
You can't argue that there were much much better options out there. I'm an O supporter, but let's not kid ourselves here.

Florida was fun. We also played great against subpar opponents [see above]

All I've done is list Orgeron's head coaching achievements. How is that shitting on him?

Listen, I hope Orgeron wins many titles at LSU. I just don't think it will happen (I hope he proves me wrong).

Yeah, a DL coach off our staff that NO AD in all of college football had even been willing to hire as a DC in ten years after crapping out big time in his only other HC try is much more inspiring.

Yeah, scoring ZERO points at HOME to Alabama and ten points at HOME to 14 point dog Florida was some inspired play. LSU beat up on BAD run defenses by playing starters almost the whole game and lose to teams who could stop the run. So much different than the years before.

I am disappointed with the hiring process that gave us O. I don't understand it. We can try to cover it with roses, but it still stinks. It's possibly the biggest fricking gamble EVER by a football power school. None of that will stop me from cheering my head off for O and the team come the season.
