The U.S. marriage rate—the number of new marriages per 1,000 people—has been falling for decades. It fell especially fast during the recession, in 2008 and 2009, but there’s little evidence that people started getting married again even as the economy recovered. And research firm IbisWorld predicts the marriage rate will keep falling over the next five years.

I am so tired of these stupid fricking "studies" about what this generation is doing less of.

No.
Younger generations are less religious.

It's very sad. Downfall of a once great nation.

Not really surprising after watching the prior generation continuously fail at marriage.

I guess the next study will be how the number of divorces have fallen.

Exactly.

It's an outdated idea. I will never marry again. My SO is perfectly fine with this and we plan to take her younger cousin as my second girlfriend.

For many of the lazy poor(not the hardworking ones trying to do their best, but the ones that are ok with taking handouts and not working)....more beneficial to not get married.
Pop out baby after baby that they can't afford, mom and dad live together, but they are "single" so POS mom can collect more in food stamps, WIC, welfare, etc, etc.

As a happily married man myself, I think a falling marriage rate is a good thing. Fewer folks getting married just for the sake of being married or some other superfluous reason. Hopefully it'll correlate to a fall in the divorce rate.

Also not sure you have noticed most marriages aren't lasting anymore and see others are having affairs constantly what's the point

As a married man, I approve of this trend.

Eh.
Plenty of studies have shown that, if kids are involved, marriage is beneficial to their success in life.
If you want to have kids, get married. The security is valuable to the kids.
If you don't want kids, I see no reason to get married, other than religious reasons.

Blame it on welfare, WIC, EBT, government housing, free medical, etc.. Women don't need a man to take care of them like in the old days. They know the government will.

Of course, but that's a slightly different discussion, IMO.

Completely agree.

I have day dream fantasies about not having to pay for food or daycare all the time by getting an "on paper" divorce, which would put my wife and 2 kids well below the poverty level on her income.
Then I remember that I have dignity and self respect, it all snaps into focus, and I get back to work.

In a related study. More baby mamas on welfare whose kids grow up with no daddy influence.

Damn nurse I'm willing to take on additional women. You're shooting holes in my strategy.
