Jon Snow is a lot like Ned. The scene with little finger in the crypts really drove it home for me in the last episode. No guile at all.

He's shown a lot more political savvy that Ned ever did. He's not as tied to his honor as Ned was. If he was then the wildling would be on the other side of the wall and Jon would be Lord commander of the NW right now

honorable but not marked by it to an extreme degree. ned wouldn't have abandoned his post as far as jon did, ned wouldn't have banged that hot piece of wildling and would rather allow himself to be killed than to break his oath while undercover.

Jon is actually fairly different from Ned. He doesn't have a strict honor code and makes decisions that aren't always popular or honorable but are the right decisions. He takes risks and isn't afraid to call people out on their shite. He can see the big picture, unlike Dany, Cersei, etc.
