Hiking, mostly

I'd look around three forks area. Its on the AT, you have a few water sources nearby. A small falls area, easier grade on hiking, and there is a shelter(about 1.5 miles in) if the kids want to hike in and out for the day(it gives you a goal to hike to)

its also on a fairly graded road, so easy to get into. You wont have to worry about anyone else within a 1/4 mile or so, depending on where you set up.

Again, this is all if you want to stay just in that area.

Couple towns(Ellijay and dalhonega) nearby if you arent stinking, to get some food as well

Tubing and kayaking are real big in the area as well

This. Did that earlier this year and it was easy and scenic. Pretty cool little shelter too, although it might be full with the southbounders.

Is this where you are referring to, as well as the Hawk Mountain Shelter?
