That's such a true statement. I don't understand how and why these guys don't take a lead from Nolan and use practical effects. Now, it's probably no difference in price. Nolan even said with a movie this big shooting practical ON IMAX film cameras is the same cost as doing million of $$ in CGI.

If CGI is the same cost as practical effects then I would say the advantages of CGI are safety and control. Stunts involving real people can be very dangerous and has kills scores of people. With CGI you have completely control and can bend reality. Plus, the scale of things like explosions has no bounds with CGI. I personally prefer real effects in most cases but it is no mystery why CGI is so popular.
