I flew an R44 with a buddy of mine there two years ago from South Carolina. It was by far the most fun, chaotic, and memorable cross country trip I've ever been on.
An R44 from SC to WI? Holy hell. I've never flown an R44 but I have about 1500 hours in an AH-64 and some of the most brutal cross country flights for me were from the Boeing factory in Mesa, AZ to Fort Hood and from Boeing to Fort Rucker when we were fielding the new 64E's. I can't imagine at R44 that type of distance.

It was brutal at first. I'm a fixed wing pilot by trade and had only about 12 hrs in a helicopter before this trip so I was definitely not used to it.
The biggest issue was trying to get out of the SE states without running into the numerous summertime storms that like to pop up out of thin air. The thick summertime air meant a lot of turbulence but we usually cruised around 5-6k feet with the doors off.
