With nearly two decades of coaching experience working with some of Mississippi’s most successful high school football programs, David Boykin begins his first year serving as Buddy Stephens’ offensive coordinator at East Mississippi Community College. Boykin comes to the three-time NJCAA champion EMCC Lions after spending the past three seasons as the offensive coordinator at Starkville High School under the guidance of head coaches Jamie Mitchell and Ricky Woods. The Yellow Jackets compiled a three-year record of 34-6, including claiming the 2015 Class 6A state championship with a 14-1 mark after advancing to the state semifinals the year prior with a 13-1 record. In addition to ranking among the nation’s Top 20 teams during those back-to-back seasons as 6A District II champions, the Jackets averaged 37.8 and 34.3 points per game in 2014 and 2015, respectively.
