Technically and visually, one of the most impressive movies I've ever seen. The cinematography is incredible.

The complaints about the movie lacking character development miss the mark, IMO. I don't think it's unintentional that the only characters that get any sort of development are Mark Rylance and his son. Having 30-45 minutes of exposition would have detracted from the movie. I love how they throw you right in from the first scene.

Some stories have a built in advantage in terms of getting you to care about the characters. A bunch of young soldiers trying to escape the Nazis is one of them.

I know this board likes to backlash on Nolan worship so go ahead and do that but I saw this a couple of hours ago and I was astounded by this movie.

It was visually one of the best movies I have ever seen. The cinematography was incredible.

Nolan put my nuts in a vice and slowly cranked down on them for almost 2 hours.

The sound was incredible. It was immersive.

Anyone saying there was a lack of character development, to them I say there wasn't supposed to be. That wasn't a goal of this movie.

Anyone that walked out of that movie, especially in IMAX or 70mm and didn't feel like they had experienced something very special should have went to see Girl's Trip.

I agree. This is one of those movies where this isn't a bad thing. Dunkirk is all about the spectacle of it. The film makes you feel like you're balls deep in a ridiculous hopeless war. When the boats from Britain came, that alone just makes it worth it. It is Kubrickian in that fashion. Watched it this afternoon, and thoroughly enjoyed it.
