Felix's is the best spot on the Causeway if he's looking for seafood. Could go across the way to Bluegill for a drink on the water on their back porch after. Downtown, LoDa Biergarten actually has pretty good food and as the name might suggest a decent beer selection. He might enjoy Alchemy Tavern for drinks or, if he's in his mid-20s or younger, O'Dalys. Both have plenty of beers on tap. The entire Dauphin St area downtown is walkable and he's bound to find a spot to drink that he'll like. As others have mentioned, Callaghan's is my favorite spot. Great burger and a cool place. Quick 5 minute drive from downtown.

Pretty much all of this plus Haberdasher for beer/cocktails. I always liked Spot of Tea downtown for breakfast, but I've never been to Bob's.
