I would say it depends on the car and what you use it for. On a daily driver, I don't think it's all that important unless it's a relatively expensive car (such as that Panamera Turbo).

If it's a sports car that you plan to take to the track, then I can't recommend it enough. I didn't do it on my Cayman and there are quite a few nicks and dings in the hood from the track. The first thing I did on the 911 was have a clear wrap installed on the whole front of the car (hood, front quarter panels, mirrors, etc). That was one of the best things I've done for my car. After two years and some track duty, it still looks as good as new.

If you decide to get one done, do your research and find a quality installer in your area. The installer is usually more important than the brand you go with (3M, Suntek, XPEL).
