Norway is a beautiful (and expensive) country. I go there about 3-4 times per year for work, but almost always stay longer since I love it so much.
Sandefjord is less than 2 hours south of Oslo. You should fly into Oslo, drive to Sandefjord and see that city just for the sake of paying homage to the family roots.
Then drive back to Oslo, and do Rick Steve's "Norway in a Nutshell" tour (you can do it yourself. It doesn't have to be a guided tour). It is possible to do it all in one very long day, but I would recommend staying overnight in Flam for a more leisurely trip.
1) Train from Oslo to Myrdal (5 hours so take the earliest train possible).
2) Train from Myrdal down to fjordside Flåm (1 hour).
3) Boat through the fjords (from Flåm to Gudvangen, 2 hours).
4) Bus from Gudvangen to Voss (40 kilometers, 1 hour).
5) Train from Voss to Bergen (1 hour).
You can then check out the area around Bergen before heading home.
Otherwise - fly into Bergen and just tour the area around there (fjord cruises, hiking, kayaking, camping...).
