There have been monkeys in Ocala for decades. They were introduced to Silver Springs in the 1930s as part of tours of the river

Also some pets were released or escaped. The environment there supports exotic wildlife.

Isn't that where they shot the Johnny Weismuller Tarzan movies? I thinj they were imported for that.

I thought they were leftover from the original Tarzan movies.
