Maybe drive out to Enchanted Rock?
The Alamo is really no big deal. If you really want to see what the Missions were like go to San Jose and Espada on the south side of SA! Those are cool. Eat at Jacala or El Mirador in SA. Good local joints off the Riverwalk.
