If you are already struggling financially, you probably aren't making the best decisions in the first place. This shite is a compounding problem.

Also, once you're on government assistance, there is little motivation to pull yourself out of it. There is essentially a wide gap where you're better off not working than going to work and making something. The phaseouts on assistance don't work, but I'm not sure how you fix it either.
