Lin was also going to start in NO. Firstly because Gentry wanted ballhandlee alongside Jrue. Secondly because at that time brain tumor was found.
It was just money related.

Lin probably would have started when Jrue was out. However he would be behind Jrue after he returned. We did experiment with starting Jrue at SG at the end of the year, while trying to get Jrue comfortable with Boogie and AD, and Lin wouldve started then too. But otherwise Jrue is our starting PG and he spent most of last season starting at PG. We didnt sell Lin on a starting spot, Lin is on record saying so.

By the way Lin at 12 million a year is kind of a bargain deal in today's NBA. Which is basically the point being made in this thread. NBA pays bank.

Jrue is our starting PG. Lin would have been our combo guard, and secondary playmaker.

Brooklyn had no one. He went to Brooklyn to try and have a chance at being the no. 1 lead guard/playmaker.

If we trade for Lin he will be a combo guard, run some PG, and be our secondary playmaker at guard. I wouldn't be against it, because we are in desperate need of perimeter help that can shoot threes. Lin has gotten steadily better with his three ball through his career, and he can run the offense. Plus, there isnt much else out there that we can get.

Edit: Lin would shred some backups running the offense with the second unit and Boogie. The rotation we ran with Boogie last year had Boogie sitting first, then coming back in when Jrue and AD got their first break. That backup unit with Boogie did not do well last year. Crawford and Boogie were all we had. Lin would help that second unit with Boogie ALOT.
