I season it with whatever rub type stuff I like and have on hand. Let it sit an hour or so. Heat gas grill. Clean grate and oil.
Put salmon on meat side down (really!) on direct medium heat. Close lid and leave it about 4 or 5 minutes. Rock it with tongs to see if it is "unstuck", which will happen in time. Use spatula if you must, but tongs are usually fine.
Turn it over to skin side down and close the lid. Check every couple minutes until internal temp is about 125.
I mix up some Greek yogurt with lemon juice, chopped capers, garlic powder, and S&P. Makes a good sauce to go with.
I do this often on a Weber gas grill, and it comes out great. One of my favorite lazy summer dinners.
