Yeah my mom used to carry a handgun in the early 90s living uptown.. my parents have said that recent times are starting to remind them of then.

In the early 90s, you were really limited in where you could go. There were parts of the FQ that you didn't visit in the daytime.
I don't live in NOLA but have family there and visit 2-3x per year. In my last visit (Feb), I didn't feel that way at all. With that said, I avoid the FQ whenever possible
