Tiger fans, we get all bent out of shape for 3 star commits. There are hundreds of kids that are better than their rating. There are four major recruiting services rivals, 247, scout, & ESPN. They are the so called experts and they can agree on where prospects should be ranked. One service will have a kid ranked in the top 50 in the country and another service will have him outside the top 250.

We as fans should take this staff for their evaluations and let them pick the kids. Coach O has been specifically known for his recruiting eye and because he's taking 3 star kids we start to doubt him. How about doubting the recruiting services for their rankings instead.

I mean, I think both sides have strong arguments.

I think the staff should get the benefit of the doubt, and we as fan should always be concerned and questioning their judgements.

That is what builds national championship programs. Concern from all parties.

To be honest, O has the shortest leash a LSU coach has ever had. If he's willing to risk his last shot at being a HC on these 3 stars then that's fine with me. Either he will win big and soon or he will be out extremely fast. He won't get the chance to kill us by 1000 cuts like Miles did.

If you look at the recruiting rankings throughout they years they are never perfect, but always a good indicator. a five-star recruit has a 50/50 shot a being a good College player and 1/4 of being objectively great. a 4-star player has roughly a 1/3 chance of becoming a productive player and a 3-star has like a 1/8 chance of being a good started at LSU. yes more 3-star players get drafted, but there are thousands of 3-stars and only 30 five stars, and 300 or so 4-stars. in short, stars aren't everything, but they mean something.

I disagree.

They mean something. They just don't mean everything.

Just one piece of information out of many that needs to be combined to paint an accurate picture or come to a conclusion.
