Are there certain teams that should never contend for CFP or Natty?

Most everyone loves a Cinderella/underdog story. However, it seems on the rare occasion you actually have one contending, it is written off as a quirk, or the rest of the competition is "down" that year.

Do you believe that any P5 team has the ability to compete for a national title, or are there teams that should ALWAYS be on the outside looking in? In other words if certain teams do find themselves in the mix in December, is the process somehow illegitimate that year or a sign that the normal players are down?

Well, Baylor's athletic department should be razed and salted, along with any of their mainline administrators who ever did the tiniest thing to support them.

Or do you mean something different?

Back when it was 2 teams in the BCS, probably always on the outside looking in. I know TCU was close, though, in 2009. Maybe Cincinnati, too. I can't remember.

With four teams, I'm sure you'll see one get in sooner or later.

I do believe that there are certain teams who, by virtue of a lack of tradition, a lack of high school talent and/or geographical location, will never win a football national championship. If I were being honest I'd say my team is one of those.

Every year there's only a handful of teams that can win the title

Then why are they playing?

Not very American of you.

And this already organically (and by organic, I mean shithead stuck in the mud sportswriters) works itself out.

There are only so many school that ever get real Top 25 votes...and it's about 35 schools with 10 wildcards.

So you're safe OP; "others receiving" will never win the Natty.

Let's look at every major conference
PAC 12 Cal, Arizona
Big XII Kansas, Iowa State
BIG Indiana, Rutgers and Maryland
ACC Duke, Wake
SEC Kentucky, Vandy, Ole Miss

I am going by schools who haven't won a conference championship in a long time
