Yeah, because LSU clearly played well enough to salt both of those games away, right? I'm sorry but if the outcome comes down where one call can sway the game either way, you haven't done enough to win a game. In '06, LSU's offense did almost nothing all day. In '09, LSU trailed Bama for three quarters and sputtered on offense all day.

Back on topic, Oregon State's strength of schedule was in the 80s, and LSU's was top-10, I think. Oregon State had a gaudy record but played nobody out of conference until NCAA postseason time. Cal State Fullerton should have beat them last Saturday until their starting pitcher lost the strike zone and the bullpen couldn't put out the fire.

Even Monday, Oregon State was not that special. LSU played tight that day and made a lot of self-inflicted mental and physical errors along with walking a dozen hitters.

LSU cleaned that up the past two days, and Oregon State didn't respond. And Mainieri deserves a lot of credit for getting this team to shake off Monday. But, yeah, we should fire him for all of the midweek losses.
