It's not just their stance on immigration.. WW2 completely changed everything and has left them with a sense of shame and guilt for what their ancestors did a few generations back. I lived their for 3 years and married one and can tell you that a lot of them still feel guilty about what happened. It has without question played a big role in their governments decision making on many issues.
