Of course I would have rather won last night but if we had to lose I'm glad it was a total butt kicking.
Good athletes with self respect will respond very well to an absolute humiliation like we received last night. Skip Bertman's 1997 team got beat 28 to 2 by Alabama and then turned around and whipped their arse in the national championship game when it really counted.
If we would have only lost by a run or two we probably would have just came up with a lame excuse or blamed an ump or a bad break here or there.
We got punched right in the frickin mouth!
If that doesn't motivate the hell out of this team we never had a chance to be champions anyway.
Here's to a pissed off and fired up bunch of Tigers the rest of the series!!!

Huh?

A loss is a loss and having that kind of loss in Omaha is a straight kick to the balls and a mental frick.

ETA: Dummy!

If this jolt somehow gets them to relax and play ball the way they can then it may be the moment that gets then on track. I don't see this bunch giving up but we simply aren't getting good swings right now - playing tight.

I am too. Was a wake up call that we are not a "great" team. I think we may have thought we were with the 17-straight and the conference title, etc. We are a good team. It's easy to think you are great donning the P&G, playing at LSU in front of 10,000 fans. We played a great team last night. We are not there yet.

It's more about mental makeup than talent. We made it to Omaha on talent. Too often though I see our guys letting the game come to them instead of owning the moment and attacking. OSU has that mindset.

Id rather lose a 1-0 battle with Walker going a complete game. Saving our staff and not humiliating our team in just about the only game that would ever have a national audience.

It seems like in life, you sometimes need a good arse whooping. And it also seems like there is always somebody willing to do it. GEAUX

How much does being "fired up and pissed off" really help you in baseball? It's such a precision game. You get a pitcher out there who is over-amped/angry, which could lead to him overthowing and missing the strike zone. You might be "super" fired up at the plate. But is that going to make your more aggressive and cause you to lose focus? I don't care how fired up you are. It's still very difficult to hit a baseball. Pressing in the field can lead to errors and dumb plays.

Baseball is not like football or basketball where that shot of adrenaline can make you bust through a would be tackler or run the floor faster than your opponent.

To me, the best thing you can do in baseball is refocus on the little things. Maybe more than any other sport, pressing gets you in trouble.

Link? I love the energy of your OP, but I don't think this ever happened.

If we are gonna take one, that was the time, that was the score and that was the team.

The only thing I'm glad about is waiting for the Championship Series before I drove to Omaha.
