great driving music

I can vouch. Had a nearly 4-hour drive yesterday, plenty of time to bask in the entire 11/6/77 show. Even the mistakes are golden...it sounded like Jerry was MIA for a short while during the Scarlet>Fire (maybe to change guitars and/or fix a string, who knows?), and the rest of the band upped their game in his brief absence. Few bands can turn something like that into a happy accident

48 years ago tonite, the grateful dead begin a three nite run at the warehouse in new orleans. these shows were the inaugural shows for the venue

after the show the next nite on 1/31, members of the band were arrested in their hotel rooms for drug possession. the third nite was billed as a benefit for their legal expenses, and the band invited the arresting NOPD officers to the show. accounts indicate that the policemen did in fact attend

one lasting impact of the arrest was that this was a violation of soundman owsley "bear" stanley's probation, resulting in his subsequent incarceration in california
