A dispute over a public fishing hole escalated Monday on Toledo Bend, leaving one angler with a ticket and another angler who allegedly pulled a firearm booked into the Sabine Parish Correctional Center, according to a press release from the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries.

Comments on social media about the case indicate the argument involved a submerged brush pile. According to the release, Johnson and his wife were fishing when Bullara pulled up in his boat and demanded they leave the area. After a heated dispute, the release states Johnson pulled a firearm on Bullara.

The Sabine Parish Sheriff’s Office ultimately arrested Johnson for aggravated assault with a firearm, but Johnson told authorities he pulled his handgun in self-defense because he felt threatened by Bullara’s actions, the release states. Bullara was cited for harassment of persons lawfully fishing, according to the release.

This bullara guy rolled up in a pontoon with 6 people on board screaming at that Johnson fella and his wife. Told him it was his spot etc. He pulled his boat within a foot or two threatening to whip Johnsons ans his wife's arse. Johnson pulls handgun and sets it in his lap and tells bullera if he hits his boat or gets on baord he shooting his arse.
Pontoon pulls away and continues to holler. Witness on bank said the pontoon guy bullies everyone that fishes there and agrees to be a witness. Johnson calls cops and explains where he is at and what happened.
Wildlife cops show up and takes statements and arrest Johnson for pulling a firearm out. Johnson tells him he was scared for him and his wife as they had 6 people. Arrested anyway.
Talked to a guy who is great friends with the Johnson fella

I guess it's like duck blinds in Lake Bouef or Catahoula...build at your own risk and call it yours but there's no stopping anyone from using it.
I think its kinda shitey on both parts. If I wasnt 4 hours away, I'd build my own piles. I would also fish piles I find. Have multiple options. I wouldn't hit the same pile daily that a guy is bringing clients on and if the guy rolled up on me on a pile I knew he built and was civil, I'd likey leave. If he rolled up on me with clients and was a dick, I'd likely be in jail too, being the pistol comes in the boat with me.
All that being said, I actually took a guided trip with this guy and he put us on some fish. Also, his cabin actually burned down a couple months ago. Might be karma or a local that he cussed out.

What a major DA! Amazing how a day of fishing turns into this! Some people have no respect for others! Don't blame him for pulling a gun!!!!!

I'd do the exact same thing as Johnson. Bullara is obviously a guide that works hard to put brush piles out to feed his family, and obviously has to deal with rednecks catching fish off of his hard work. Don't fish a working man's brush pile and don't pull a gun unless you're going to use it.

This is about as ridiculous as a person posting tidal waters as their own

We used his guide service in early May. We went with another on of his workers, and the guide that we were with that day did the same thing to another guy "fishing his brush pile". I thought it was kinda funny that he would tell someone to move from where the were fishing on a public lake.
