They probably make a good amount of profit per console at this point. At launch it would have been tight.

But that is not even the beginning. By having more consoles out there, they make more money. They make profit on more ps plus users, more accessories sold, more software sales, more movies rented, more movies bought, more PS VUE subscriptions etc etc...
