Right, but the budget towards gear was wayyyyy way overshot or it showed up as a huge negative on their financial report due to the crew spending over budget. They spent like 50k on gear for a small crew when we all know they could've gotten by easily on 8-10k. And how stupid do these two have to be to think they wouldn't get caught? Someone is reviewing financial statements and tracking inventory. This lady was literally advertising this stuff for sale on Facebook. They should both be forced to pay back the state and then spend some time in jail. It is blatant theft, not a case of "oh we thought it would be fine." Blatant and premeditated theft of state owned assets for personal profit

There was no set budget, this was a one time contract from BP with a blank check. Not defending their actions in any way, but this was a clusterfrick and a cash grab all the way around on the back of BP's guilt.

It took almost 7 years for them to get caught, and that was by an auditor, not anyone in the agency. Again, this wasn't done in the normal course of business, so there weren't necessarily any red flags just jumping off the page.

Agree 100%, this kind of shite happens way too often on a smaller scale and I think they need to be made an example of.

I'm really hoping the state puts a lien on their business until restitution is made
If they don't confess and shimano doesn't cooperate or isn't able to supply serial no.'s and employment info, etc... it's going to be hard to pursue criminal charges against them I imagine.

Yep, BP was giving away money like crazy and LDWF accepted it. More money than needed and couldn't give it back. Still doesn't excuse it. Waiting to hear their side of story
Either way, girl kinda seems like an attention whore and that is probably what got them caught in long run
Game wardens and LEOs have it easy nowadays with people posting on social media

These two really take the cake. They got to live free in Venice in ldwf lodging. Got to buy the best equipment, and got to fish for a living using the top of the line equipment. All they had to do when they resigned was turn all the stuff back in. Instead they were selling it, or using it start their charter business. And of course they were using their government position to solicit other free stuff.
Looking at her Facebook page, I guess she is sponsored or trying to be sponsored in the outdoor industry. (All top of the line name brand stuff she is using) I hope all her sponsors drop her for being a thief and a dumb thief on top of that.

I really wish I was able to clown her on facebook. Someone really needs to post the links to the articles and audit report on their pages.

They didn't even have to do that. They took it from the tackle room at the camp LDWF was leasing and moved it to their personal camp. They were 2 of 3 people who had keys. All they had to do was turn in the keys. It's not like this stuff was mixed in with their personal items at their camp and they got confused, they straight up stole the gear along with about 20 yetis.

I can see how they would get a decent amount of Rods, Reels, Tackle, and clothing from Shimano and a lot of Coolers from Yeti due to sponsorships. My friend is a Capt. and he gets all this kind of stuff from Shimano & Yeti.
However have yall seen the boats these two are running? 2 Seavees and 2 Beavertail skiffs. for only two Capts that are usually on the same boat together that seems like a lot of $$$ in hulls just laying around during the day not getting put to use.

I saw the See Vee with the three 350's and the Beavertail skiff. They seriously have two of each?
I guess it's a little easier to buy awesome boats for starting a charter service, when the people of Louisiana paid a lot of your other equipment cost for you.
Didn't the article say about $20,000 of the $50,000 was accounted for? Wonder what they did with the other $30,000 worth of stuff?

Looks like they sold the rest of it.

Do any of these rods and reels have serial numbers?

Just noticed that there is a YOLO paddleboard on the list of stolen equipment.

18 Beavertail
20 Beavertail
270Z Seavee
370Z Seavee
Im aware that they get price cuts on hull and engines due to being Charter Capts. and advertising. I just think itd be hard to carry that monthly note for all 4 hulls when both are usually on the same boat together, thus only raking in 1 charter a day. Im sure they split some days and do the offshore/inshore thing for two groups in a day. However all the pics they post of offshore charters they are usually on 1 boat at the same time.

They almost certainly do. However, they were probably not recorded, which may have been part of this duo's scheme.

Sorry, but this is also a complete failure by the department. Buying that much equipment and not bothering to record the SN or give anything an ID or tracking number is 100% negligence.
