That does not change my point. Sony would never want it's install base to have to make an xbox live account.
And they already do and have been for a long time having cross platform with PC.

Yeah, IIRC wasn't FFXI the first cross-platform game with PC and PS2? That's the earliest I remember.

That's because they aren't competing with pc. It's also not the reason they gave when asked why they refused.
