Interesting factoid:
WiFi actually is a Kleenex/Xerox type work that originated from the first company that started it. The WiFi Alliance was the trade association to hold the WiFi trademark under which most products are sold.
Also WLAN whish is known as Wireless LAN actually stood for WaveLAN underwhich were the ones who invented the wireless products and invented "WiFi"
I had to get the specifics off of Wiki but i knew the jist prior.

Lol I am glad you actually posted this because I edited my original post from LAN/WLAN to LAN/WiFi because I didn't want to confuse the ill informed folks lol.
