I love my dogs, they are part of my family. They are tremendously well trained and obedient. They are socially well adjusted and behave properly when out in public.

And i still don't take them everywhere i go, or to friends or families' houses. Why? Not everyone is as taken by them as I am. Not everyone is comfortable around dogs. Some people are actually frightened of strange dogs. I respect that and don't force people to interact with them.

I usually don't like being around dogs in public as most are poorly trained, if at all, and few owners actually can control their animals. Why should I have to sit next to some idiot's dog in the confines of a goddamn airplane which has ZERO obedience training and whose owner couldn't control or stop the dog if something happened?

So dogs make you nervous?

That's all you had to say. That's a fair reason.

When mine was a puppy, I'd bring it everywhere. I wanted to socialize her to where no human behavior scared her. And as you know, fear is usually why dogs attack. Anywhere they were allowed, I brought her. And it worked incredibly well. But now that she's older, it's exactly as you say. People don't always want to be around dogs.
