Besides this one incident, which is obviously rare, why does it bother people having dogs on planes?
Again, I won't ever do it, we just board our pup in our city, but I see no real reason ever mentioned why people hate this, yet everyone always screams about the service dog thing being out of control.
Why does it bother people? I'm not trolling, genuinely curious.
Flew yesterday and there was a dog on the flight and it just chilled there, like they usually do. I'd rather 20 dogs instead of 1 screaming baby.

I love my dogs, they are part of my family. They are tremendously well trained and obedient. They are socially well adjusted and behave properly when out in public.
And i still don't take them everywhere i go, or to friends or families' houses. Why? Not everyone is as taken by them as I am. Not everyone is comfortable around dogs. Some people are actually frightened of strange dogs. I respect that and don't force people to interact with them.
I usually don't like being around dogs in public as most are poorly trained, if at all, and few owners actually can control their animals. Why should I have to sit next to some idiot's dog in the confines of a goddamn airplane which has ZERO obedience training and whose owner couldn't control or stop the dog if something happened?

like they usually do
When untrained dogs are placed in situations where they are unsure of what to do then you have situations like the OP posted. If a dog is in an enclosed tube with a lot of strangers doing erratic shite then I don't blame the dog for freaking out.
However, the dumbarse owners should know better than to put their animal in that situation. Then when you consider the fact that their is no real reason to have this dog on the plane its an even shittier decision by the owner. In reality these people are selfish assholes and I wish that the dog would turn and maul the owner for being such a self righteous POS.
