4 hours long...lot of unreleased footage and material.
Amazon’s original documentary Long Strange Trip is now available to stream on Prime Video. It chronicles the career of the rock band The Grateful Dead. It’s essentially a 4+ hour-long movie that has been cut up into 6 episodes. The documentary is directed by Amir Bar-Lev and produced by Martin Scorsese.

I watched it last night. Its amazing how long it is and it really only touches surface stuff. Very enjoyable.

i just finished it.
nothing really new to be learned, but some great interviews and as you mentioned a few never seen footage.
Always love to hear Garcia talk and being interviewed. he's on a different level than the rest of us.

Loved it. Hoping for an eventual director's cut release on video, 'cuz surely there's a shite-ton of footage that didn't make the final cut. Like mentioned, even at 4 hours, it only scratched the surface. Final act was a downer, but that shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone...

High quality. Really put together well. Almost wish it was twice as long.

Last week they had the director on Tales from the Golden Road. Good interview and knowledgeable dude. Said he struggled between going too deep into the Dead (for fear of it being too much info) versus keeping it fairly basic for the casual viewer.
Haven't seen it, and can't wait to. Maybe this weekend

I don't care much for the Grateful Dead, but it should be a really interesting documentary.
