curious to know what the bite looks like after 36 hours?

If you go to the dr within 48 hours of the initial bite, does that help prevent the bite from turning into something that is out of a horror movie?

I think I was a long time ago on the middle finger. It swelled up a lot and then drained. Don't know for sure if it was a BR or not.

Google it. It's really fricked up shite.

Pray that's not what bit you is all I can say.

The mere existence of brown recluses and my ignorance in proper identification of them versus harmless spiders has resulted in a kill every spider that comes in my zone approach. I am brutal and pitiless in my encounters with spiders.

I had what I thought was once. Turns out it was a staph infection. I have some gnarly pictures if you want to compare with what you might have.

I did a lot of research on recluse bites when I thought that's what it was. Turns out the necrotizing fascitis is not nearly as common as the internet wants you to believe.

Bit on the arm years ago. It wasn't a huge disgusting wound, but it never would heal. I went to the dermatologist and he excised the whole area and sewed it up. No problemo, but I still have a scar.

Those motherfrickers are all over Nashville. Middle Tennessee is a hot bed for them.

I had one chilling in my bathtub once and I poured bleach on it and washed it down the drain

Have only had one friend bit by one and he went to the doc a couple days later, which they say is all you need, and it was fine. No disfigurement (on his knee). He said it hurt like absolute shite though because it was on his joint. Just radiated heat and pain.

About 50% of BR bites are dry.

Of the 'wet' bites, only about 25% contain enough toxin to cause necrosis.

I though this was a recluse bite, but my finger never went into necrosis. Was at the doc the day it happened and they put me on drugs just in case.

I was bitten on my foot years ago, but I have no idea how it looked after 36 hours. It was pretty swollen for few days.

From an emergency room visit, the guy in front of us had been bitten the day before, had flown out to SLC Utah and noticed his had was swelling. By seven that night his right had was four times its normal size and his wrist had swelled and gone half way up his forearm. He was healthy, in his late fifties. And the doctor told him major antibiotics were in his future.

My little one, little older than 2, was just bitten a couple weeks ago. Or that's what the doctor told us it was, we never saw the spider. Brown Recluse bites don't really hurt, so you may never notice the actual bite.

It developed a black dot the size of a pea in the center where the bite was and a red circle around it about the size of a half dollar about a day after.

Third day, skin in the red area started to peal and scab up and fall off. Fourth day, the black dot in the middle was about gone. Fifth day the black dot was completely gone but redness remained.

The days following the redness started to go away and his skin started growing back. Still hasn't fully healed. You can clearly see the original circle that's healing.

When we got to the doctor on day 2, it wasn't infected. All we got was Antibacterial ointment prescribed to keep it from getting infected. We were very fortunate.

If it had gotten infected, we either were going to have to give him IV antibiotics or have it removed, thankfully that didn't happen. We were nervous.

ETA pic - day 1, 2, 3

Good luck!

Curious how you know you were bitten by a recluse? I ask because a large majority of "brown recluse" bites are really just staph infection
